Golf Tipster - (@SpankTheBookies) 1st March 2016
Another disappointing week for our golf tipster last week as Adam Scott won The Honda Classic by one shot over Sergio Garcia and just to rub salt into our wounds Louis Oosthuizen claimed the ISPS Perth International a week after he made our selections.
Only the WGC Cadillac Championship to bet on this weekend and we have 3 golf selections for you below...
WGC Cadillac Championship Tips
The WGC Cadillac Championship will be played on the Blue Monster course at Trump National Doral in Doral, Florida. Last years champion was Dustin Johnson who beat J.B Holmes by one shot.
The worlds top three meet for the first time this year. Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day all hope to win this event for the first time. If that wasn't enough to convince you that this is a strong field then also note that 48 of the top 50 are playing here.
Rory McIlroy's putting continues to let him down, he missed the cut last week so we are happy to oppose him again until he shows some form on the greens.
Jordan Spieth and Jason Day haven't fired here in two visits each and although its always dangerous to rule either of them out, I feel there is enough quality in the field to look elsewhere.
Measuring 7,543 yds, it is definitely a course that favours a big hitter. D.J beat Holmes last year with Bubba Watson back in 3rd. Three power men who will likely be somewhere near the top of the leaderboard again this week! You definitely want to lean on the golfers who love to smash it long!
J.B Holmes missed last weeks Honda Classic and I feel he has a huge chance of winning after finishing runner up last year. He turned this par 72 into a pitch and putt course on the first day in 2015 where he shot a round of 62. The form of his last four appearances read T6th - T6th - T11th - T11th and back on a course that suits his game I think the 28/1 is huge.
My next selection is going to be Henrik Stenson. He's long but not huge and he's very accurate! The world number 6 comes into this tournament on the back of two solid appearances on the European Tour. He appears on the PGA Tour for the first time this season and I expect him to go well. He will need to keep up with the big hitters when scoring on the par 5's but with Stenson's accuracy off the tee he could make up for it on the par 4's. He's 25/1 and should give a good account this weekend!
My last selection and one at slightly larger odds is Charl Schwartzel. We tipped the South African in the Northern Trust Open where he finished T45th. I'm not tipping him on that performance but for his efforts when winning the previous week in the Tshwane Open where he was excellent on the par 5's. If he can repeat that kind of performance here then he must have a good chance of grabbing at least a place at 45/1. Schwartzel was 24th on the PGA Tour in driving distance last year and 17th for scoring on the par 5's. We'll have some of that!
The Bets
J.B Holmes (WGC Cadillac Championship) 28/1
Henrik Stenson (WGC Cadillac Championship) 25/1
Charl Schwartzel (WGC Cadillac Championship) 45/1
3 x £7.50 each way singles
